2/12/2020

On behalf of the Connecticut Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (CACES), please see the award descriptions and applications available for matriculated graduate students in counselor education programs. Please share with all eligible students and encourage them to submit an application.

1. $100 Student Scholarship for Professional Development
Students may apply for this award to cover upcoming or recent past workshops or conferences.  We will grant an award to one student from each counselor education program in Connecticut (7 awards in total).  If we do not get an applicant from each university, then we can award more than one student from a university. Counselor Education graduate students must be a member of the Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA) or the Connecticut School Counselor Association (CSCA) to be considered. Applicants must submit an application with verification from counseling faculty and required essay. Deadline for applying is April 1, 2020.

2.  Dr. Robert Colbert Social Justice Award
This award is presented to one student annually in recognition of Dr. Robert Colbert, a Connecticut counselor educator committed to social justice.  This award will be presented at CCA’s annual conference and will acknowledge the work of a graduate student who demonstrates a commitment to social justice. Counselor Education graduate students must be a member of the Connecticut Counseling Association (CCA) or the Connecticut School Counselor Association (CSCA) to be considered. The student application should highlight initiatives that focus on addressing disparities, promoting resilience, and breaking down obstacles for under served populations. The winner will receive $300, a plaque, and free registration to the CCA Conference. Applicants must submit an application with verification from counseling faculty and required essay. Deadline for applying is March 1, 2020.

If you have any questions about the awards or application process, please directly contact either Dr. Margaret Generali at Generalim1@southernct.edu or Dr. Allison Buller at abuller@bridgeport.edu
